Star pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians, Emmanuel Clase, was arrested yesterday, Thursday, at John F. Kennedy Airport on charges of accepting bribes to help bettors win wagers on his pitches. The 27-year-old Clase was detained after arriving on a morning flight from his native Dominican Republic, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. His teammate on the Guardians, Luis Ortiz, who was also implicated in the alleged scheme, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
